BICENTENNIAL PARK, TAMWORTH

Peter Hooper, This sculpture stands as a dual tribute: to the role of the guitar in country music, and to the original series of guitar assemblages by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. It is located in Bicentennial Park, adjacent to Tamworth’s main outdoor performance space by the banks of the Peel River, a place where the guitar is an integral part of many concerts held during Country Music Week and throughout the year.

RAILWAY AVENUE, WERRIS CREEK

The Australian Railway Monument was built as a tribute to the railway industry and its employees for their contribution to Australia`s development through rail. It includes six stainless steel figures depicting various aspects of railway work, plus an honour board of over 2,000 names commemorating the workers killed on the railways since the 1850s. Eleven flagpoles were added to the memorial in 2008.

INVERELL ART GALLERY

Representing the flow of the Macintyre River the “Meandering Macintyre” mosaic foot path measuring 90cm across and 94m long. It is situated outside the historical and beautiful Inverell Art Gallery in the Evans Street Cultural Precinct of Inverell. The Meandering Macintyre was created by members of the Inverell Art Society and community volunteers with assistance from the Inverell Shire Council. The colourful local flora and fauna incorporated into the design makes this unique attraction appealing to all ages.
