The Makers Shed

Situated at the heart of the NSW New England high country in the town of Glen Innes, The Makers Shed is a high-street marketplace for handmade and independent products lovingly created by artisans-in-business, including unique jewellery, art and books. The creative home of Richard Moon Wearable Silver & Silverware and Michael Burge Media, the venue hosts regular workshops in jewellery, writing and art/craft; runs the annual High Country Writers Festival, and hosts a regular book club and writers' group.

Land of the Beardies History House Museum and Research Centre

Land of the Beardies History House Museum

The Land of the Beardies History House is a folk museum opened in 1970. It occupies all of the original Glen Innes Hospital, started 1877, closed 1956. It is comprised of 25 rooms with local exhibits, pictures, photographs, costumes and fabrics, original kitchen and hospital areas, services memorial room, lovely courtyard with garden, outside parkland with agricultural equipment and machinery.

Level entrance and coach parking at rear (enter through Hospital entrance in Ferguson St.)

Main entry is from the corner of Ferguson Street & West Avenue.

Adults: $8
Seniors Card holders, pension & concessions: $5
Children: free with responsible adults School groups: free

Glen Innes Art Gallery

Glen Innes Art Gallery

Established in 2005 the Glen Innes Art Gallery provides artists and community groups a place to exhibit, compete and express their view of the world and what is important to them in a very modern and dedicated space.

The Gallery is operated by volunteers who desire to see art advanced in our area and who understand the vital role art plays in the wider community.

Many exhibitions and displays are scheduled throughout the year attracting up to 600 visitors per exhibition.

Commission on all sales are 20% for members and 35% for non members. Agreements are available for solo and small group exhibitions. New members are always welcome and membership is currently $20. Your are invited to visit the gallery to view the works or to become a part of this dynamic and lively community.

Gawura Gallery

Gawura Gallery

Gawura Gallery is home to internationally acclaimed Aboriginal Artist Lloyd Gawura Hornsby (b.1947) is a Koori, descendent of the NSW Aboriginal Yuin People. His passion and talent for art manifested in childhood and developed while in his adolescence. Lloyd Gawura Hornsby’s work comes together using the traditional dot technique; his strong knowledge base of sketching and drawing are evident in the detail with his bold use of colour to finish the experience. These outstanding works of art are recognised worldwide by the major galleries across Europe.

Gawura Gallery offers an outstanding range of contemporary and traditional Aboriginal artworks, including Fine Arts and Photography of the New South Wales Highlands.

Chapel Theatre

Chapel Theatre

The Chapel Theatre is a community cinema and theatre staffed entirely by the volunteers of the Glen Innes Arts Council. The theatre is a central hub of cultural and artistic activities in the local community offering new release movies in digital 3D, performing arts touring shows, children's theatre and musical productions. The arts council also present their own amateur theatre productions throughout the year that enable emerging directors, producers and actors to try their hand at stage craft.

Movies run most weekends of the year and there is a canteen serving tea, coffee, soft drinks and confectionery. There is a community choir and the group practice every week at the Glen Innes High School, all welcome.
